So you have the ring and the planning has started! Yay! What better way to celebrate the next chapter in your lives together than having a Gloucestershire Engagement Photography experience? Engagement photography sessions are not only a lovely opportunity to create some special memories but also a great way to meet your wedding photographer. That is why all my wedding collections include an engagement shoot to help you get to know me and relax on your wedding day.

I am based in the Stroud area but am happy to travel to your perfect engagement shoot location. I have had shoots all over the Cotswolds and even Cornwall! Most of my couples like to have their engagement shoot at their wedding venue as a chance to choose some nice locations for photos on their wedding day.

Should I have an Engagement shoot?

I have so many couples say to me that they feel awkward in front of the camera and they are worried about posing. This is where an engagement shoot really does help you!

In these sessions you will see how little posing you need to create some lovely photos – and what ‘posing’ is actually like for a wedding couple. I will help you relax in front of the camera and try out some photos together. But don’t worry they are as natural as possible and not at all like modelling! We can also play around with ideas you may have seen yourselves.

You can decide where you would like your engagement session to be. Some couples decide to have their engagement shoot at their wedding venue and tie in a walk round. This also means we can scout out some of those special places for your wedding day.

You can also choose when you would like your shoot too! Some couples choose to have their shoot early so they can use these photos for their save the date cards. Others have them around 6 weeks before the wedding to have a mini ‘practice’ before the big day.

Most importantly this is a time for you to get to know me and I you. Trust me we will have a lot of fun and get you some beautiful engagement photos in the process. The aim is to get you relaxed around me and the camera, so I am just another friendly face on your special day.

Destination Photoshoots

Looking for something that little bit different? Going on holiday soon and fancy having your shoot on the beach or up a mountain? Or do you fancy a special couples shoot together to celebrate an anniversary? Then a destination photoshoot is just what you need.

Here at Sophie TC Photography we are more than happy to travel for photoshoots for any of our couples. Beach sunsets being a firm favourite with us! Some couples like to go back to the spot they got engaged or just fancy some photos at sunset during a high tide. Whatever you have in mind lets chat as I am sure we can come up with something special and stunning just for you.

If you have already booked a wedding and would like to have a destination engagement shoot then drop me a message. An additional charge may apply depending on the location.

The engagement shoot wasn't something either of us would have planned to do, but we're so glad we did it. I (the bride) was quite nervous about having my picture taken due to body image issues and general insecurities, so it was so valuable to have a practice run with Sophie. She made us feel completely at ease, and helped us get used to being in front of the camera.

Had our engagement shoot with Sophie. Our shoot had to be postponed a fair few times due to Covid-19 restrictions, but Sophie kept in touch throughout and worked with us to arrange a new date. She was keen to get our ideas and input on poses etc as well as to add her own ideas. I felt very comfortable and at ease with her behind the camera and I'm not a confident person at all! She was also great with my daughter who came along to the shoot and was in some of our pictures. Photo quality fantastic and sent in our own personal album to download. Very happy and cannot wait to have her photograph our wedding ❤

FAQs

Do you include these in my wedding photography?

Yes, Engagement shoots are included in all Rose and Sunflower collections. If you want to add this onto another collection then you can. Just get in touch and we can chat all things engagements and weddings.

I don't know where to have mine! Can you help?

Of course we can help. We are more than happy to make some suggestions on locations but here are some top tips for choosing a location:

Ask your venue if you can have it there? We can use this as a practice run for your day.
Are there any places that are special to you as a couple? Maybe where you became engaged?
Are there any nice gardens around your local area? One of our couples met us at a National Trust Garden.
If you have a pet dog… firstly, bring them along. Secondly, we could just go on a local woodland walk with your pet and get them involved too.

What time of day should I book mine?

This is up to you as a couple but a personal favourite is at golden hour. So, check the time of this depending on the time of year. I would recommend having your shoot outside in natural light.

When should I book in for my Engagement shoot?

As always, I highly recommend booking in as soon as possible as I get booked up quickly. If you are looking at having your engagement shoot in the summer months or between April – September they will have to be booked in on a Monday -Thursday or Sunday as Weddings take priority in these months on Fridays and Saturdays.

Does it have to be a Gloucestershire Engagement Photography session or can it be anywhere?

No it can be anywhere! All Engagement shoots in Gloucestershire include free travel. Anywhere out of my 30 mile engagement shoot radius may include a small travel fee. But I have been all over! Sunset beach shoots in Cornwall to the French Alps.
