Compass INN Engagement

Joe and Becky

In January of 2023, Joe and Becky booked in for their Compass Inn Engagement shoot. Their wedding was booked in for March and they wanted to have a little session at their venue.

It was pretty bitter and the frost was still on the ground – it was a beautiful winters day and perfect for their shoot. We tied in their shoot with a chat and walk around the venue before their wedding. We spent most of the shoot outside in the gardens and grounds picking out some spots to revisit in March. We also planned out where they would like their group shots on their day depending on the weather.

I took Joe and Becky through a couple of different prompts ready for their day. Theirs and my favourite was the drunk walking across the grass in the frost. They were clearly having a lot of fun and it shone through in their photos.

Tips from this Compass Inn Engagement shoot for yours:

  • Talk to your venue about having your shoot there before your wedding day. We used this as a practice shoot and location spotting for Joe and Becky’s wedding portraits. We then recreated some of these shots on their wedding day. It helps your wedding day run even smoother.
  • Embrace the cold and don’t be afraid of having a winter engagement shoot. The frost can look just like snow and look so magical in your photos.
  • Tie in your shoot with a mini meeting about your wedding. It really helps to have a chat through everything at your venue and speak about any unique events you are having on your day.
