Edgeworth Polo Club Wedding

Will and Kells

This was a mega wedding at Edgeworth Polo Club! I had the pleasure to work with the amazing Khya Watts Photography on this job as he was a groomsman for them. It certainly was the most unique wedding I have ever photographed. Of course every wedding is unique and special to every couple, this was unlike anything I have seen before.

So Will and Kells were out walking in the beautiful Edgeworth countryside and came across a gorgeous little clearing in the woods around the Edgeworth Polo Club fields. So they simply asked the club if they could hire the field for their wedding. Believe it or not the club said yes! That is where it all started.

Now if you are thinking of having a wedding that you completely style yourselves then check these guys out. Everything you see in the photos they made themselves. That’s right the gorgeous arch they got married under. They made that using the wood around the area and tying it all together. The flower lined aisle through the trees for Kells to walk down with drapes across the trees and handmade bunting around the ceremony. But they didn’t stop there! They made all of the plates for all the guests! Yes you heard that right they made the plates by hand! There were so many elements they had thought about for the whole day and so personal too.

The ceremony was one like I had never seen before. Every wedding ceremony is special and unique to the couple but Will and Kells really did go to a new level. They had one of their close friends marry them and wrote all their own vows and promises to each other. They literally tied the knot in a hand knot tying ceremony. Each of their bridesmaids and groomsmen came up to loop a ribbon round their hands that when they pulled the ribbon it made a knot. Loved this! After this they poured each other a glass of mead that they had been brewing since they got engaged.

Then it was time to really get the party started! After their confetti walk out of the woods everyone enjoyed the axe throwing and bubble waffles. Those bubble waffles were the best food ever and no one was hungry waiting for the food. Nothing worse than hungry guests at your wedding!

Later in the day we took Will and Kells off for some couples photos. That’s when we got out the smoke bombs. Will and Kells really want some fun portrait photos so had bought a load of these smoke bombs for some fun and they did not disappoint! We had so many we used some in both day light, sunset and night! They really do make awesome photos and are really fun to use.

So some tips from this wedding that you can take into yours:

  1. Never be afraid to ask someone to hire out their field. The worst someone can say is no but just imagine if they say yes! If you are happy to do the ‘legal’ part of your wedding day before or after your ‘wedding day’ then you can have your wedding anywhere!
  2. You can style your own wedding but make sure you factor in the cost and time! This would have taken them hours to create so make sure you consider this. Stylists are amazing human beings and can create truly gorgeous weddings saving you so much hassle and time. Just ask yourself, do you really want to do it yourself?
  3. You can make your ceremony be unique and special to you. Consider doing the legal part another time and get your friends involved in your ceremony.
  4. Bubble waffles! Have some food ready for your guests that means they won’t be hungry. I vote bubble waffles – seriously they were amazing!
  5. Smoke bombs! They are awesome fun and help create some awesome photos!
